I was at a great show last night with two stages, and one had a few straight edge metallic mosh-core with heavy breakdowns-type bands playing outside. I watched one briefly and found myself laughing out loud at some of their antics. Those hardcore kids sure can dance! And here I was, happy with the Charleston and the Cabbage Patch. I wonder why they're so violent though? I figured I could just avoid getting near the pit and go back to the bands inside, but eventually things got shuffled and one of those hardcore bands had to play inside. Ugh, it was a bit much to see these young lads practicing their martial arts moves inches from my face. Also, I saw one guy with a shirt that said "Real men don't talk, we swing" - uh, wow. That kind of message didn't seem well-suited to a punk show. Whatever. If it had said "sing" instead of swing, it would've been an awesome shirt!
Also, it was pretty much everyone's birthday last night! Happy Birthday, everyone! I also got to have a really short chat with Mitch Clem (I wanted to talk more but the band started playing, I couldn't find him afterwards unfortunately). I also caught a great Houston band, "O Pioneers!!!" and loved them much more than when I saw them about three years ago - awesome band! I bought their split CD with Bomb The Music Industry, and while the recordings don't capture their live energy, it's not bad at all. My friend's band Sex Advice also played a fantastic set and recently released a split 7-inch with Shang-A-Lang, also a good band!
Also, Mega Man 1-3 are awesome games! Play them!
