More to it than the vibe

Tonight I saw a great episode of the cartoon King of the Hill I had forgotten about. Hank realizes how terrible the steaks he had been buying from Mega-Lo Mart are, and a hippie friend of his introduces him to a local co-op. While their hearts are in the right place, their way of running the store is a bit impractical. Hank introduces some ways to better the operation, and the most interesting part of the episode is when the "head" of the store cringes at the sight of a yuppie in a suit with a cell phone shopping at the co-op - "the vibe is shot to hell" he says. Hank explains without preaching that the yuppie is there for the same reason they are - good food - and doesn't view him as a suit-and-tie. I especially liked this part! No need to be so elitist all the time, right? Why not be inclusive, rather than exclusive, when our goals our the same? It may not be quite as simple as that in all cases, but it couldn't hurt to apply that outlook on situations before being so judgmental. Just a thought!

The episode raises a lot of other really good points while still having some humor and without being preachy. The episode is called "Raise the Steaks" and you can check it out online here!
