Guitar Center

I really don't like Guitar Center. The main reason has generally been being surrounded by at least ten egotistic jerks playing metal at ear-splitting volume simultaneously, as if they don't have a guitar at home. Are they shopping, or hoping to get scouted?

Anyway, I went in a week ago to buy a replacement plug for my guitar cable. I later found out the replacement looked different that the broken one, so I decided to go back and exchange it for a different and ask for some help. When I asked the salesman (an appropriate title for sure) he said "why don't you just buy a new one?". I told him this was a nice and expensive cable I got as a gift from a former bandmate and I didn't want to just throw it away. He replies, "you know, we sell Monster Cables! You could just buy one of those". I was pretty frustrated at that point and explained that I was trying to avoid that. He obviously wasn't listening. I did mention I needed a short cable for an effects pedal, and AGAIN, he tried to sell me a Monster Cable and told me about the "warranty". I hate when people see buying something new as a better solution to fixing something of value.

Also, J Church has a song called Guitar Center. It's not one of their better songs, but here's an old quote from Lance via the website that explains it:

" It's partly a friendly joke on Rocket From The Crypt and the myriad of San Diego bands that try to copy the John Reese sound. We really did our best to make a San Diego sounding song. But it's also about the horror of going to a guitar centre and having to be surrounded by all the losers. Especially the ones that work there with the mullet haircuts and the leather ties. A pretty a-typical sounding song for us."

Guitar Center wankshredders are pretty annoying, my man. Are there any nice mom and pop guitar shops around Austin?

only mom and pop guitar shop i've seen is the one that had easily breakable and expensive drumsticks. there's a decent one to the south in san marcos, but that's 30 miles each way.
but i at least managed to fix my cable - take THAT guitar center douche!

I really hate going to Guitar Center, the workers are such douche bags wannabe rockstars... In Las Vegas Guitar Center / Musicians Friend has helped wipe out all of our independent guitar stores
